Research - Synopsis submission

• 1 for dissertation OR

• 2 for articles

• At least 6 months before exam (recommended in 1st 6 months of training)

Experience – 2 years 

• Emergency Medicine - 6 months

• Mandatory Rotations - 18 months 

CPSP eLogbook Entries - minimum 150

• Emergency Medicine - minimum 100 

• Rotations - minimum 50

Application

Step 1 - Form completion

• Fill “Examination Forms for IMM” - CPSP Examination Forms

• Print the filled form received in email

• Get it signed by Supervisor, Head of Institute and yourself

• Submit Challan / Pay Order / Demand Draft -  15,050 Rupees

Step 2 - Documents upload (PDF format)

• Signed Step 1 form

• Scanned Challan / Pay Order / Demand Draft

• Photograph - 300 dpi, front attested

• CNIC - both front and back

• FCPS-I pass / exemption letter

• RTMC certificate

• MBBS degree

• PMC certificate

• Workshops certificates (BLS and 4 mandatory CPSP workshops)

• Synopsis submission acknowledgement letter

• Experience certificate - mentioning all rotations

• Rotational certificates

• Appointment letter joining report

Note - Admit card arrive 1 week before exam

Structure

Theory:

• Paper 1 - 100 MCQs - 2.5 hours

• Paper 2 - 100 MCQs - 2.5 hours

OSCE:

• TOACs - 12 stations (+ 2 resting stations) - 7 minutes each

Tips

• No specific topic quota; questions can be repeated in both papers.

• Tailor your preparation for MCQs. Dedicate the last week to focused MCQ practice.

• Tintinalli textbook is extensive and best used as a reference, not for the exam. 

  • For basics, the manual edition of Tintinalli is sufficient.

  • Read 1 chapter and solve MCQs from 2-3 different books on the same topic.

  • Jot down important points from the manual and MCQ explanations.

  • Re-read tables, especially in toxicology and pediatrics.

  • Less important sections in Tintinalli: Prehospital care, Disasters management, Resuscitative procedures, Abuse assault, Special situations.

  • Focus on systemic emergencies, resuscitation, trauma, ACLS/PALS algorithms, important clinical decision scores and guidelines.

  • After covering theory, review your notes and charts.

• Test yourself with practice exams in the '1200 MCQs in EM' book.

• Recommended mandatory MCQ books: Tintinalli MCQs, Pretest Emergency Med, Pearls of Wisdom Emergency Med, 1200 MCQs in EM (for self-testing).

  • Additional recommended books: Peers Review, AliEm, EM MCQs by Waruna, Oxford Assess and Progress: Clinical Medicine.
