Immigration Health Surcharge

• Eligibility: The Immigration Health Surcharge applies to many UK visa routes, including Temporary Work – Government Authorised Exchange. Health and Care Worker visa applicants and their dependants are exempt.

• Refund Process: Healthcare professionals and their dependents may be eligible for a refund of the immigration health surcharge. 

• Reimbursement Application: You should receive a decision email within 6 weeks of applying. Start by completing the online reimbursement form.

Visa Extension

Process:

• Access the gov.uk website and navigate to the visa and immigration section. Choose the skilled worker visa and then the healthcare visa for extension or renewal.

• Complete all the required details on the application.

• Verify your identity through the UK ID check app; if compatible with your phone, this app can eliminate the need for a biometrics appointment.

• If unable to use the app, continue the application, proceed to select a biometrics verification center, and book an appointment

• Pay the standard fee of £324 per person for visas up to 3 years, or £628 per person for visas longer than 3 years.

• Upload the documents requested in your application, such as your Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) reference number, passport and bank statements where required. Use your UKVI account to access your eVisa.

• If required, attend the biometric verification appointment with the identity documents specified in your application.

Suggestions:

• Ensure your trust extends your contract annually and request a new CoS promptly after securing a new contract.

• Apply for a visa extension after obtaining the new CoS. Apply before your current permission to stay expires; check the expiry date in your eVisa.

• Apply for the visa extension before your current visa expires. The earliest application date is up to 3 months before the start date on your new Certificate of Sponsorship.
