Duration

A comprehensive five-year Emergency Medicine residency program.

Rotations

• Includes Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Emergency, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Nephrology, Cardiology/CCU, Medical ICU, General Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Anesthesia, Radiology, Toxicology, and EMS.

• Elective rotation areas to enhance skills and CV, covering administrative roles, patient care, safety, research, and innovation.

Work Schedule

• 48-hour workweek comprising two morning and two evening 12-hour shifts.

• Evaluations include PGME trainee evaluation form, 360-degree feedback, core curriculum assessment, quarterly and annual reviews.

Objectives

• Aims to develop specialists who excel as clinicians, caregivers, leaders, teachers, and researchers.

• Emphasizes comprehensive skill-building in diagnostics, consultation, technical abilities, and self-assessment.

Eligibility

• Requires an MBBS with a minimum 55% score, recognized by PMC.

• Mandatory completion of a one-year internship split between Medicine/Allied and Surgery/Allied.

• FCPS Part I qualification in Medicine, Surgery, Anesthesia, or Allied is essential, with preference for Emergency Medicine experience.

• Selection involves a screening test and panel interviews based on merit.

Faculty

• Led by a Program Director and Associate Program Directors.

• Faculty includes sixteen senior and eleven junior members actively involved in resident training.

Teaching

• Rigorous training aligned with global patient management standards.

• Hands-on experience in invasive procedures including:

  • Central Venous Pressure (CVP) monitoring.

  • Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI).

  • Chest tube insertion.

  • Double lumen catheterization.

• Two Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) machines are available for advanced diagnostic training.

• Wednesday Core sessions dedicated to academics and skills evaluation from 8 AM to 2 PM, emphasizing comprehensive development.

Research

ED's research department, led by Dr. Uzma Rahim Khan, supports national and international publications, presentations, and projects, engaging faculty and seniors with junior residents.

Dates

• Annual advertising of the program occurs each spring, typically in March/April.

• The written test is scheduled for August.

• Interviews for shortlisted candidates are held in October/November.

• Results are announced in November.

• The program commences on January 1st.
