Overview
The CPSP International Scholarship Program, facilitated by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, collaborates with University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) and other hospitals to provide training opportunities in emergency medicine.

Eligibity
Training: Applicants must complete two years of mandatory training in Emergency Medicine at CPSP-accredited institutions.
Examination: To qualify for the scholarship, candidates must pass these two exams:
IMM (Intermediate Module)
OET (Occupational English Test) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
Additional Qualifications: Although not mandatory, preference is given to candidates who have qualified for or taken the MRCEM exams.

Application Window: CPSP scholarships are advertised twice a year on the CPSP website.

Interview Procedure: Interviews are conducted online at CPSP centres, featuring a panel of UK-based emergency department doctors and hospital administrators.
Induction Period: The induction period begins in January and July each year and concludes after two years.
GMC Registration: Scholarship recipients are offered permanent registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
Positions
Junior Fellows (post-IMM): Typically serve as Senior House Officers (SHO), with potential promotion to Registrars in the second year based on performance and repeated assessment.
Senior Fellows (post-FCPS): Serve as Registrars.
Salary
Junior Fellows: Around £3,060 per month, tax-free.
Senior Fellows: Around £3,300+ per month, tax-free.
Visa
The CPSP scholarship program provides a Tier 5 visa, which is valid for two years and is non-renewable or extendable.

Residency
Participants in these programs are not eligible for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) as the visas do not contribute towards the mandatory five-year duration required.
It is expected that participants will return to their home countries after completing their two-year tenure.
