A Guide to Submitting to FOAMed

Are you passionate about writing, reading, or both? Have you previously written essays, articles, or poems? Do you wish to share your thoughts and knowledge with the world through your words? If you answered yes to any of these questions, I invite you to contribute to a FOAMed (Free Open Access Medical education) site, enriching the growing pool of discussions, literature, and art.

I have had the privilege of having two of my poems published on "Art of Emergency Medicine" and an article on the renowned site KevinMD.com titled "From Burnout to Brilliance: How One Doctor Found Balance." This article also led to a podcast on Podcast by KevinMD, available on YouTube, under the title "Navigating the Demands of Emergency Medicine."

How to Submit to FOAMed

Art of Emergency Medicine:

Submitting to this site is straightforward. You simply need to locate the contact email, where submissions of articles, poems, and even pictures are invited. Along with your submission, you must provide a brief introduction explaining the thought process behind your work. Before long, you will see your art featured on their page.

KevinMD:

The submission process here is similar. You email your content to the provided contact email address, and typically, you will receive a response the following day indicating whether your submission has been accepted. If accepted, you will receive a publication link and date to follow.

Submitting to FOAMed is a quick and easy process. If you have something to share with the world, I urge you to submit your content to any FOAMed site. Seeing your work published not only boosts your confidence but also motivates you to create and submit more content freely.

Final Advice

As Barbara Kingsolver wisely said, "Close the door. Write with no one looking over your shoulder. Don’t try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. It’s the one and only thing you have to offer."

Feel free to ask for any assistance along the way!

Good luck, and happy writing!
