The largest hospital within the Pakistan Armed Forces, PEMH is ISO certified and situated in Rawalpindi.
Hosts numerous medicine and allied specialties, including Pulmonology, Neurology, Cardiology, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Critical Care Medicine, Family Medicine, Radiology, Pathology, etc.
The Emergency Department was founded in 2020 under the leadership of Brigadier Nadeem Ashraf, who is the founder and current Head of Department (HoD).
Hosts 22 FCPS Emergency Medicine trainees, including civilian and military personnel.
Encompasses diverse areas: Triage, Fast Track Unit (FTU), Minor Area, Minor OT, Major Area, and an attached 26-bed Acute Medical Unit (AMU).
Equipped with state-of-the-art tools: Portable ultrasound, portable X-ray, video-assisted laryngoscope, advanced defibrillators, CT scan, MRI, and PET scan.
Patients typically stay in the ER major area for around 3 hours before being transferred to a ward or the AMU.
Provides 24/7 emergency care to both military and civilian patients.
PEMH has established a collaboration with the KPK government's PGMI Peshawar through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
Each January, the induction session selects 3 KPK trainees and 1 Kashmir trainee based on merit for FCPS emergency medicine training at PEMH, with these positions sponsored by PGMI Peshawar.
In July, 4 additional military candidates are selected for the same training program.
Weekly educational sessions on Thursdays focus on various emergency medicine subjects.
Brig Faheem-ur-rehman and Brig Nadeem Ashraf are both supervisors in emergency medicine.
Mandatory rotations encompass Emergency Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, ICU, Anesthesia, and Pediatrics.
